Chat By The Pitch is a youth soccer podcast run by Ian Babcock. This page explains, in plain words, what this website collects and where your information goes. Short version: we don't sell anything about you, and we only keep what we need to answer you or post what you asked us to post.
Visiting the site
We use Google Analytics 4 to see how many people visit, which pages they read, and which links they click (for example, whether someone tapped through to Spotify or the shop). Google sets cookies to do this, and IP addresses are anonymized. We use it to make the site better, not to identify you. You can block it with your browser's privacy settings or Google's opt-out add-on.
The site is hosted on Netlify, which keeps standard server logs (like IP address and browser type) to run and protect the service.
Contact form
When you send a message through the contact page, your name, email and message are delivered to us through Formspree, a form service. We use them only to reply to you. We don't add you to any mailing list from that form.
Tryouts and community board
If you submit a listing to the Tryouts or Community board, we store what you send (including any image) so we can review and publish it. Your email address is used only so we can reach you about the listing and is never shown publicly. Listings come down when they expire, and you can ask us to remove one any time.
Email newsletter
Newsletter signups are handled by Substack. If you subscribe, Substack's privacy policy covers your email address, and you can unsubscribe from any email.
Podcast, video and shop links
Episodes are hosted by Captivate, and the site plays or links to them along with Spotify, Apple Podcasts and YouTube. Video clips play through YouTube's privacy-enhanced player. The shop is run by Fourthwall, which handles checkout and payment. When you use any of those services, their own privacy policies apply. We never see your payment details.
Affiliate links
Some links on the Friends page are affiliate links, and they're labeled. As an Amazon Associate, Chat By The Pitch earns from qualifying purchases. Amazon and other partners may use cookies to know a purchase came from our link. It never costs you extra.
Kids
This site is made for parents, players and coaches, but it isn't directed at children under 13 and we don't knowingly collect their information. Parents, please handle any contact form messages or board submissions yourselves. If you think a child sent us something, tell us and we'll delete it.
